Season's Greeting

Lights they are flashing
In a window of white
A cool air is flowing
In the cold winter night
Desire to consume all that we see
To place them under the tree
Wrapped in paper, red ribbons
Crackle of a fire, gives a ruddy glow
Up on the wall, hung in a row
Brightly glittered stockings reflecting the snow
The odors of dinner, wine and good cheer
Lingers as it has every year
All are asleep, as far as we know
For we are peering inward from the snow
Rubbing my fingers together for warmth
The tips of my gloves had worn down
Through the years
I tap my brother
It is time to go
Of a bright Christmas we dream
As we seek shelter from the cold
